Doak (202) 687-5918 FIRST SESSION (June 2 - July 3)Intensive Chinese Level One I This is a beginner's course in Mandarin Chinese for students who have no background in Chinese. The emphasis is on the introduction and development of the four basic language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. By the end of the session, students are expected to know about 250 Chinese characters (in both the traditional and the simplified forms), have some knowledge of basic grammar patterns, be able to engage in limited, everyday types of conversation, and read/write material for basic everyday needs. SECOND SESSION (July 7 - August 8)Intensive Chinese Level One II This is a second course in Mandarin Chinese for students who have already taken Intensive Chinese Level One I (CHIN-011) at Students successfully completing 012 with a grade of "B" or above are eligible to continue to Intensive Second Level Chinese I and II at
